This summer we all fell in love with hottest hair color trend: Ombre! Just in case you are out of the loop, Ombre is defined by mizu new york’s color department as “diffused color”. The word Ombre actually means “shaded or graduated in tone”. In the fashion world, Ombre refers to a fabric dyeing process that gives you a pale-to-dark graduation of color. When translated to hair, Ombre is a diffusion of color from one color tone to another. For example, light to dark or dark to light. Celebrities such as Rachel Bilson, Alexa Chung and Sarah Jessica Parker all flaunted their Ombre hair this summer. Ombre was a great way to embrace the natural highlights you get from sun exposure. As we gear up for the inter months it seems that ombre is still a mainstream hair color trend.
Ombre for fall will work great on over-highlighted blondes and brassy brunettes. Going for an Ombre effect with your color cant take an over-exposed color and return its shine, brilliance and fullness with multi-dimensional results. Colorist Miguel Angarita loves the Ombre trend for the fall/winter months because you can have both lightness and richness. You don’t have to go back to dark colors for the fall; you can utilize what the summer left behind (all those brilliant highlights) and incorporate it into your fall hair style. If you are almost all blonde and want to go for the dark to light Ombre effect then ask your colorist to apply a single process color on your crown and run it through some of the ends to create the “roots” effect. Remember, since the goal is to have the grown out roots look you can wait longer between visits so it works for your busy schedule! The all Ombre is a great way to have a winter highlight without the high maintenance of a traditional highlight.
